I love Screaming Trees, and I like his solo work (though, granted, I haven't heard a whole lot). Will check it out.

He's definitely up there for me too. Top 5ish, probably. If I had to rank my favorites, he wouldn't come in ahead of Dax, though. I don't love all of his collaborations either, although the Soulsavers stuff just might be my favorite Lanegan material.

So I guess you did indeed get busy checking out post-Screaming Trees Lanegan then, eh?

Yeah, I've actually been listening to him nonstop for a few months now. Been hard to quit.

Of all his albums, Winding Sheet is definitely my favorite. Just an incredibly dark record. I listen to Holy Ghost and Bubblegum a lot too.

Every cover he's ever done is fantastic. It's remarkable.

If I ever get a chance to see him perform and meet him, I'm going to ask him if he knows who Dax Riggs is.

That's funny. I wanted to ask Dax if he's a Lanegan fan! I didn't though...but I still want to know. I've never met Lanegan, but I have seen him live, and he doesn't disappoint. The first time I saw him was in the Netherlands, and that was one of my favorite shows I've ever been to. And then I saw him at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in LA, and the best part about that was that I saw Dax at the Echo the night before. Dax and Lanegan back to back nights? Still hasn't gotten better than that!

Wouldn't surprise me to find out Dax is a Lanegan fan.

There are a bunch of Lanegan covers I'd love to hear him do...

He's got a new album of covers coming out in September. There are going to be some Nick Cave, Chelsea Wolfe and Sinatra (both Nancy and Frank) songs on it among some others. Should be good.

In crooner style, though. Could be interesting, could be a disaster. Either way, I'm excited for it! Dax should do a covers album, too. That would be quick, and would hold us over during these long waits between original albums.

well, if "I'm Not the Loving Kind" is any indication of how the album is going to be, I'll enjoy it quite a bit.

Borracho is probably still my favorite single song from solo Lanegan, although his cover of Carry Home is close. Of course those are two of the only songs I haven't seen him sing live yet! As far as I know, though, Borracho hasn't made an appearance in a setlist in forever. I believe he has performed Carry Home in the last few years, though, but never when I've been at a show.

Field Songs is my favorite solo album.

The (previously) unreleased tracks on the anthology are all excellent, Halcyon Daze and the vocal version of Blues for D especially.

He's also going to be recording the follow-up to Blues Funeral soon.  bounce2
